The Ficus Audrey, Ficus benghalensis, is the national tree of India. In it’s native range, the tree can reach a spectacular 65-98 feet tall (Ficus Audrey: How To Grow and Care For Ficus Benghalensis, 2021), but in your living room it can be managed at a much smaller size! It’s attractive oval leaves traced with light-colored veins awaken interest and credit the Master Artist.
But how can you maintain your Ficus Audrey for long-term indoor beauty? 1) Provide your Ficus Audrey with bright light–but not direct sunlight. Unlike some houseplants, your tree will not tolerate dark conditions. And while direct sunlight will also cause trouple, a bright window free of direct midday sun should keep your plant happy. 2) Do not overwater your Ficus Audrey. Of course, your plant will need water, but in order to stave off root rot, allow the top layer of soil to dry out completely between waterings. 3) Provide nutrition for your plant through monthly applications of a balanced fertilizer from spring through fall. Your plant will not require fertilizer in the winter months. 4) And finally, consider repotting your tree every year or two. Trim its roots (trim its top correspondingly), add some fresh soil, and increase the pot size by 1 or two inches.
And our hope is that your Winter Gardens Ficus Audrey will more than fulfill your hopes.
