A striking and compact indoor decor specimen, ‘Selby’ is an evergreen tropical plant with a clumping growth habit (Homalomena Selby: Homalomena Hybrid, 2021). ‘Selby’ is classified within the genus Homalomena. In form and growth requirements, Homolomena plants mimic plants such as Silver Queen from the genus Aglaoenma (Homalomena Care, n.d.).
Caring for your Selby plant will be similar to caring for many other houseplants. Naturally shade-tolerant, Selby plants will thrive in indirect sunlight or dappled shade, but avoid direct sun exposure. Although moisture is important, it is critical that you allow the soil around your Selby plant to partially dry out between waterings. You don’t want the soil to remain wet! Fertilize your Selby plant during the summer twice each month, using a balanced soluble fertilizer at half strength, and in the winter when growth slows, it’s a good idea to push pause on your fertilization schedule until springtime growth resumes.
With an imaginative eye, picture ‘Selby’ as feature plant in your ith proper care, expect ‘Selby’ to become a graceful member of your home decor.
